PURITY

MEMORISE: Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8

BIBLE READING: Psalms 111:10

10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

MESSAGE:

When I was much younger, there were certain things we would not attempt to do because we considered them to be inappropriate. Today, it is unfortunate that some ‘Christians’ misbehave and justify it with the Scriptures, saying, “Where the Spirit of God is, there is liberty.”

The Holy Spirit does not give anyone a license to sin; rather, He gives a felow the grace to stand firm in righteousness so that he or she will not sin. As a mother, I usually question teenagers when I see them relating closely with members of the opposite sex in church or in my neighbourhood. Some of them will often tell me, “We’re just chilling, and there’s nothing serious between us.” However, they regularly visit, chat freely online, and exchange unholy compliments with members of the opposite sex.

In Yorubaland, the elders usually say that a fellow should not sniff what he or she does not intend to eat. In this case, if teenagers claim that they are not engaging in immoral activities with members of the opposite sex, yet they don’t keep healthy boundaries in their interactions with them, they will eventually engage in such immoral activities and suffer terrible consequences.

KEY POINT:
Maintain healthy boundaries with members of the opposite sex so you can keep yourself pure.
