OPEN HEAVENS FOR TEENS 9 AUGUST 2026 BIBLE READING: MATTHEW 6:1-4
1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.
MESSAGE
It is reassuring and encouraging to know that God recognises and rewards acts of kindness and love.
As a child of God, you must learn to do good and show love to everyone, not just to your friends, church members, or family members.
When you show love to everyone around you, you imitate your heavenly Father, who causes the rain to fall on both good and bad people (Matthew 5:45).
In today’s memory verse, Jesus promised to reward anyone who gives as little as a drink of water to the needy for the gospel’s sake.
Sometime ago, a Christian couple fed an unbelieving young man, and that kind gesture made him surrernder his life to Christ.
Today, the young man ownsa Successful organisation with many branches across Nigeria, and that Christian couple, who became his spiritual parents, have been greatly rewarded by God in different areas of their lives.
My dear child, as you do good to everyone around you, bear in mind that you are doing all you do to God, and in due season, He will reward you greatly.
