MEMORISE: Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 1 John 2:15
BIBLE READING: 1 John 2:15-17
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
MESSAGE:
To love the world is to love material things and other worldly pleasures. It also means to follow the dictates of the world, even at the expense of one’s salvation.
Today, many young people love the world and its attractions, and they are ready to do anything to have the things the world offers. For instance, in a bid to acquire worldly riches, some young boys get involved in armed robbery, ritual killings, and internet fraud, while some young girls engage in prostitution. They lie and do all manner of abominable things just to feel accepted among their peers.
My dear child, an antidote for not loving the world is loving God genuinely and wholeheartedly. Matthew 22:37 says, “… Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” When you love the Lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, the love of the world will not find space in your heart.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to love You with the whole of my being.
