MEMORISE: Thou hast planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit… Jeremiah 12:2
BIBLE READING: Galatians 5:19-23
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
MESSAGE:
I am always happy when I watch my children on YouTube, praying and singing in the Holy Ghost. I believe it is a manifestation of God’s promise to pour His Spirit upon all flesh in the last days (Joel 2:28). However, I will like to emphasise that although it is important to covet the gifts of the Spirit and walk in them, growing the fruit of the Spirit in today’s Bible reading is what really distinguishes a genuine Christian and qualifies him or her for heaven.
There are many people today who speak in tongues and perform miracles but are on their way to hell. However, I have not seen a person who genuinely loves people and has the fruit of the Spirit who will not endure to the end.
My dear child, the fruit of the Spirit is what distinguishes a child of God from one who is merely practising Christianity as a religion. To grow in the Spirit, you must study God’s word because it is a mirror that exposes your weaknesses to you. As you work on your weaknesses, you will become better. The more you yield yourself to the Holy Spirit, the more you will grow in the Spirit and bear fruit.
ACTION POINT:
Study about the fruit of the Spirit and pay attention to growing it in your life.
