ALWAYS BY YOU

MEMORISE: …for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews 13:5

BIBLE READING: 1 Kings 17:1-9

1 And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.

2 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,

3 Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

5 So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.

6 And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.

7 And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

8 And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,

9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

MESSAGE:

Today’s Bible reading tells us the story of Prophet Elijah, whom God sent to speak His word to the rebellious nation of Israel. After meeting with King Ahab and declaring famine upon the land, Elijah was forced to flee to a stream where he received provisions from God. When the stream dried up, God sent him to stay with a poor widow and her son, and the Lord miraculously provided a continual supply of food for them throughout the famine.

I studied Elijah for three years, and one notable thing I discovered about Him is embedded in this sentence, “And the word of the Lord came unto Elijah.” This shows that he was constantly in a place where he could hear God, and his heart was always ready to follow and obey God. No wonder God always showed up for him and made him the most respected prophet in the land.

My dear child, God is always with you. If you do not feel His presence, it might be because you have not cultivated a rich fellowship with Him. I pray that you will indeed become so intimate with God that you will feel His presence anywhere you go and be accustomed to hearing His voice, in Jesus’ name.

KEY POINT:
God will never leave you nor forsake you.
