MEMORISE: In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
BIBLE READING: Psalms 100:4-5
4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
5 For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
MESSAGE:
Today’s memory verse encourages you to always give thanks to God regardless of whatever situation you find yourself in. A perfect exXample of someone with a thankful heart was King David. David was referred to as a man after God’s heart because he loved to worship God and pour out his heart to Him in thanksgiving, no matter the situation he found himself in. In Psalm 103:2, David said, “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:”
By maintaining a heart of gratitude, David found strength and comfort in the face of challenges. In fact, whenever David went against God’s will, he found his way back to God through thanksgiving. As God’s child, you should also embrace thanksgiving.
You might think God has not done anything for you just because you still have a long list of prayer requests, but I want you to know that having the ability to think, as little as it may seem, is actuallya big reason to thank God. If you look back to how God wakes you up every morning, feeds you, and clothes you, I am sure you will find other reasons to start giving Him thanks.
My dear child, don’t give room to the devil to make you commit sin against God by being ungrateful. I want you to stand up right now and thank God for the blessings you have enjoyed from January 1st until now for the next 15 minutes. May the Lord accept your thanksgiving, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
KEY POINT:
Give thanks to God at all times
