BIBLE READING: 1 KINGS 18:36-37
36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.
37 Hear me, O LORD, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.
MESSAGE:
Elijah was a prophet during a time when many people in Israel were worshipping a false god named Baal. To prove that the Lord is the one true God, he challenged the prophets of Baal to a contest. They were to prepare sacrifices but not light the fire themselves. Instead, they would pray for their god to send fire from heaven to consume the offering.
While the prophets of Baal prayed all day and nothing happened, Elijah prayed a simple, heartfelt prayer to God and got a dramatic response. God sent fire from heaven that consumed not only the sacrifice but also the wood, stones, and even the water in the trench around the altar.
Is there anything you think God cannot do? In my over 45 years of following God, I can tell you for free that nothing is impossible with Him. You only need to pray the kind of prayer Elijah prayed. Ask God to prove that He is the Almighty God in any difficult situation you might be facing.
PRAYER POINT:
Father, please prove Your might in my life. Let the whole world know that I am serving a living God.
